Sweet Scallops Mat

The virtual catalog Look Books created by Art Gallery Fabrics features each new fabric collection and contains projects and sewing inspiration from many makers and contributors. As soon as I’d designed the Everyday Dishes tulip print, I knew I wanted to make a table setting with that print! The backstory of the name and inspiration for the print comes from the Franciscan Earthenware dishes my parents bought new in the early 70s and used to their final days in 2021. I love these dishes and the colors from the dishes can also be seen in the Heirloom collection.

The adorable placemats were designed by Sweet Little Quilts and are called the Sweet Scallops Mat. I created a quilt sandwich of Everyday Dishes print for the front and the back with cotton batting between and quilted simple 1” square diagonal quilting lines to quilt. I love how they turned out! The cloth napkins were made using the Time Was print from the collection and using my Mitered-Corner Napkin tutorial on this blog, HERE.

Roundabout Quilt

Last month the Roundabout quilt pattern from the Freebies page got a much needed update and new sizes added to the pattern. It has since moved from a free pattern to my Shop and has 4 project sizes, including the new pillows and full/queen size quilt.

I love this pattern for how easy it is to make and how it showcases those pretty Heirloom prints! It’s a great beginner quilt but experienced sewers will love how fast it is to make—especially for gifts and baby quilts!

The lovely puff comes from Hobbs Batting Polydown batting and Joyce Ulm of Eva Mae’s Custom Quilts did the long arm quilting using the Lattice Flower + Circle Set pantograph pattern. I love the retro-vibe of this panto.

Townsend Bag

So, I made a bag! This is the Sallie Tomato Townsend Bag. This is not a bag for a beginner to make but Sallie Tomato has very nice video tutorials to go along with her pattern that really helps you get through those tough steps. I purchased all the interfacing and hardware (except the zippers) from Sallie Tomato just to have everything on hand when it came time to sew.

I used Eclectic Thread and Queen Been Olive prints for the exterior of the bag and Plum Jelly for the lining. I love the train case shoe zipper compartment on the bottom of the bag.

I’m looking forward to my next trip when I can field test this bag. It would be the perfect weekend bag and could hold a lot of stuff!
