I'm an Arrow Creator!
I’ve got big news to share with you! I’m an Arrow Sewing furniture ambassador and an Arrow Creator!
My work spaces in my sewing room up until now have been made up of an old desk and a Victorian-era folding sewing table. When I did use a sewing cabinet it was a 1920-30 era cabinet retrofitted to my grandma’s 1958 Singer sewing machine. Although these surfaces had served me well they had limitations to be sure and were all very skimpy on space and little to no storage. It was well past time for me to get REAL sewing room furniture! So, when Arrow Sewing approached me this spring about their Arrow Creator program I was beyond thrilled to be chosen as an ambassador for the Arrow Sewing cabinets!
The furniture pieces I got for my sewing studio are the Princess Hazel hydraulic chair and the Kangaroo and Joey cabinet. This full-size was the perfect size cabinet for my space and for my Janome Memory Craft 6650 sewing machine which is a big machine (but not the biggest on the market). Photos like the one above were taken after the Sew Steady insert arrived to turn the hydraulic sewing machine lift area into a flat sewing surface. Custom inserts can be ordered from Arrow to fit your cabinet and sewing machine styles— I highly recommend getting the insert if you plan to order a cabinet!
As part of being an Arrow Creator I can offer you a promo code of 20% off your purchase from the Arrow website! Use promo code SHARON20 to get 20% off your order.
If you follow me on Instagram @sharonhollanddesigns, take a look at my recent Reels to see the before and after sewing studio reveal. I will be adding more Reels reviewing my Kangaroo and Joey features—there’s so much to love about this cabinet it will take time to “count the ways”!
My husband helped assemble the furniture and it took us several hours but the quality of the materials, the great instructions, well marked pieces and hardware made it as easy as it could be and we didn’t have any issues (or arguments). If we had any doubts about assembly, like when it came to the sewing machine lift, we simply googled Arrow videos and they took you through all the steps and trouble shooting.
The Kangaroo and Joey sewing cabinet has two parts. The Kangaroo is the sewing cabinet with drop leaves to make a work surface that’s 72’’ wide across the front and 55’’ deep! The Joey is a roll-under three drawer cabinet that can be tucked under or rolled out for another surface and of course, storage.
Last week I gave the new cabinet a full test drive by piecing a Charming One quilt (free quilt) in my upcoming Listen to Your Heart collection for Art Gallery Fabrics AND machine quilting it on this amazing flat surface and work space. This was my first time free motion quilting on my newish Janome machine as I never had a regular sewing machine capable of free motion before with the work space to do it on. I do have a mid-arm sewing machine in a different room but no longer need that machine now that I have this cabinet and sewing machinist up! This one cabinet has taken the place of at least 3 smaller pieces of furniture for me which is a good thing as we’ll be downsizing homes next year.
My sewing room which is now a bonafide sewing studio wears many hats. It’s a sewing room, a guest room, and a photography studio. I love that this cabinet is all on wheels and that it can fold up to a 56-1/2’’ x 20’’ desk-size if needed to be smaller or even moved out of the room. Even when it’s folded up in it’s smallest configurations it’s more surface (and storage) area then I ever had before! The sewing machine can be pushed down on the lift and a wood insert that comes with the cabinet can be inserted flat across the top for a flat top cabinet if needed.
