October is my favorite month, it is my birthday month for one thing and the colors of fall are the other thing that makes this month the best. I love the warm russet colors, the earth tones and the variety of greens. Put those colors under the crisp, white lighting of fall and everything comes alive for its last hooray before nature puts on a more somber face in November. Pull out your jacket, clean up the yard and start thinking about cooking up stews, pumpkin pies and hot apple cider. October is the time to squirrel away the lawn furniture and spend more time inside curled up under a quilt. There still will be plenty of fall sports and warmth in outdoor pursuits, but with a new nip in the air, you know those last warm days of summer are fading like the length of days and although we wish it would, October wont last forever.
