Two new projects

I like to add new patterns to the Free Projects page with each new fabric collection release and my Bookish collection for Art Gallery Fabrics is no exception! I picked these projects because even though it’s September, the holidays will be here before we know it and both projects are good for holiday use and for gift giving!

Carry Out

Fall has always been the beginning of baking season in my house and in normal social times, it’s also the time of Potluck get-togethers. My Carry Out pattern is a fast an easy make for pie carrier that can also act as a table protector.

The quilted cover has two loops and a handle for easy looping and carrying of a round dish. Simply slip the handle through the two loops to carry and slide out of the loops to open and serve.

The quilted cover adds some insulation and stability to the carrier, not to mention it’s so pretty! Make a few of these to use for your self and give the rest as hostess gifts—don’t forget to fill with a fresh baked treat inside!

My neighbor had given me some homegrown raspberries right after I finished this project. I needed to bake something yummy for photographing the project and found the most delicious, quick, and easy Raspberry Buckle recipe from the Hallmark website. I’ve since made a blueberry buckle and this recipe is one I’ll do over and over again!

I used the Romance Novel Hardcover print from Bookish for the exterior of the carrier and Argyle Jumper for the interior and binding. The nice part about using the argyle print for the lining was that I used the diagonal grid lines of the print as machine quilting guidelines and didn’t need to mark or measure my quilting lines.

Relaxation Set

You’ll definitely be needing to make several of these Relaxation Sets! Everyone on your giving list will appreciate the pampering set of a light blocking Eye Mask and a herbal Hot/Cold pack that can be tied around the neck and shoulders or across the back or stomach.

Both the Eye Mask and the Relax Pack are easy to make. Instructions include easy-to-find hot/cold insert filling from your local grocery store. For even more of a spa experience, dry or purchase lavender and or camomile petals to add to the fill mix and create an aroma therapy insert pouch. Details in the pattern for use and storage of the Relax Pack.

Find both of these free projects and more on my Free Projects page.

Be watching for the Art Gallery Fabrics Bookish Look Book release on Friday, September 17th. The Look Book is a virtual magazine full of beautiful images of project ideas and inspiration. Best thing is all the projects have links so you can get the patterns and make them yourself! Both these projects from this blog will be part of the Look Book as well but you get the first looks here!

Just in case you missed it, last week I released a new quilt pattern called, Charming Cabin made with my new Bookish prints. Read about the quilt HERE and the pattern can be purchased from my Shop here.
