At my house, it is not officially Fall until I have baked and Apple Crisp. Of course, this dessert can be made at anytime of the year, but nothing beats the smell of fresh baked apples and cinnamon on a cool fall day! The Apple Crisp recipe is from the book "Betty Crocker's Cook Book for Boys and Girls." My mother bought this when I was young and I have had on my shelf ever since.
This recipe is super easy and super delicious! I like to use Honey Crisp Apples and double the amount of cinnamon -- because my husband LOVES cinnamon.
Here is how to make the Apple Crisp recipe:
Heat oven to 350 degrees.
Spread 4 cups peeled and sliced apple in 8-inch square pan.
Sprinkle with a mixture of :
- 1/4 cup water
- 1 teaspoon cinnamon (I do 2 teaspoons)
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
In a small bowl, work together until crumbly:
- 1 cup sugar
- 3/4 cup sifted flour
- 1/3 cup soft butter
Spread curmb mixture over apples.
Bake uncovered about 40 minutes
Serves 6
For an extra treat, serve the Apple Crisp warm with vanilla ice cream. Yummy!
