Sewing for the Holidays

Christmas is just a little over 3 weeks away and if you're like me, you still like to make a few handmade gifts and sew up some special presents for the loved one's on your list.

For the first week of December I will post a project a day to help you with your gift giving sewing. There will be new free sewing projects added to my Free Patterns page and for those just finding my site, I will revisit some of my favorite sewing projects that are perfect for the season.

The first thing I do at my house to get ready for Christmas and winter is to put out my wool-plaid snowflake pillows. Just tossing these pillows on my couch sets the mood for the holidays. I love the look of plaid and these are so festive, I keep them out all winter! Find the Let It Snow pillow project on my Free Patterns page. Make these easy felt snowflakes that get stitched right to the plaid material without any worry about turning edges (since felt will not unravel). Learn how to make a zipper closure on your pillows for a professional finish and spruce up your home for the holidays. They also make a great gift that can be enjoyed throughout the winter.

Tomorrow I will post about an adorable jacket you can make for your four-legged friends.
