1 Million Pillowcase Challenge

Before I start any new projects, I wanted to get some pillowcases made for the allpeoplequilt.com1 Million Pillowcase Challenge. I made one dozen for now and plan on making at least that again in the fall. It is a start, for now. I have to tell you, this is a quick, fun and rewarding project to do. If you go to the allpeoplequilt web site you can find participating quilt shops as well as other options for donating your pillowcases you have made. The quilt shop I use for my quilting, The Mason Jar is a participating quilt shop! How convenient! I loved doing the Roll It Up method of making the pillowcases, no raw edges. The outside band encased the raw edges of the body of pillowcase and you use french seams to finish the side seams. A thing of beauty. It was tons of fun coming up with different combinations for the pillows. Here is what I ended up making. Six from the Blue Skies collection (one of those being just like the Pattern 16 as shown on the allpeoplequilt site.) The other six pillowcases are from my Love Grows collection, much more feminine, very sweet and pretty colors.

I must confess, the next time I have some free time and are making more of these, I might be making a couple of pillowcases for myself too! I hope you find some time to take on the challenge, it is worth it!

Happy Sewing,
