Last week Art Gallery Fabrics published the Juniper Look Book, a virtual catalog of inspiring sewing projects, featuring my new Juniper fabric line. Talented makers from around the globe contribute beautifully made items to show off the prints and substrates from the collection.
I also love to contribute and photograph my own projects and this blog post is for sharing about my new free projects, my Juniper version of my Chicago Geese quilt, items made from patterns from my shop, and projects I made using free patterns from other online makers.
When I designed the Juniper collection, I envisioned quiet days indoors and snuggling in for the winter with family and friends. So, with that vision, I planned my projects around hearth, home, and gatherings around the table.
This lovely Casserole Hot Pad project is fast, fun, and great for using up those scraps! The pattern is by Bre T Quilt Designs. I love how she has you quilt the hot pad as you go and the size fits a large casserole or could even be a placemat!
You may recognize these Oven Mitts from the pattern in my SHOP. I know I do a lot of baking this time of year and a fresh set of oven mitts dresses up the kitchen! These pinch-style mitts are really very easy to make and once you make on set, you’ll be stitching up sets for gifts!
Once I got thinking about family gatherings and creating useful items for the home and for hosting, I decided to make serving Bread Bags based off of my free Market Bag pattern. The free Bread Bag pattern is made exactly like the Market Bag except for not joining the handles of the bag but rather, leaving them to be tied for storing or keeping bread or rolls warm. I even have video tutorial for how to construct this origami-like project.
I love this project so much! It’s a pretty way to keep warm and serve breads and would also make the sweetest gift bag for giving home baked goodies! I need some for every season!
Juniper is a fabric collection that effortlessly bridges the fall and winter months, and depending upon the prints and color palette used, you can get several different looks. The piney greens easily convey winter boughs and the burnt orange and citrus prints can read as the perfect fall pumpkin orange.
I used The Birch Cottage free Fabric Pumpkins pattern to create a pumpkin patch of home decor pumpkins.
The perfect look for a fall farmhouse table! These would look great for Thanksgiving, as well!
The second free project added to my Freebies page besides the Bread Bag pattern is the Wreath Pillow. I’ve always loved an Ocean Wave block and used that block to inspire this oversized 24” square pillow.
When I designed the Juniper collection, I had pinned a photo of a wreath on a chair and it was the catalyst behind the mood I wanted for Juniper. This pillow design takes that inspiration full circle.

My final make for the Juniper Look Book is a Juniper version of my new Chicago Geese quilt. This is my third Chicago Geese quilt and I plan to make more in the future because I love every version! This dark green background throw size with lighter geese is so striking and cozy with a flannel backing, it’ll be a favorite one for cold weather snuggling!

I did a very simple, wavy line stitch to quilt this throw quilt and adore its simple beauty and colors of the season. The solid green used in the quilt is Balsam Fir from Art Gallery Fabrics Pure Solids range. The batting inside is Hobbs Batting Tuscany Supreme 100% Unbleached Cotton batting for a traditional feel.
